IPO words, decoded.
Draft Red Herring Prospectus: the first offer document a company files with SEBI. It covers the business, financials, risks and how the money will be used.
The Red Herring Prospectus is filed with the Registrar of Companies before the issue opens. It carries the price band within which investors bid.
Large institutional investors allotted shares a working day before the issue opens. Their participation is often seen as a confidence signal.
A period during which certain shareholders cannot sell. Shares held before the IPO by non-promoters are generally locked in for 6 months from the date of IPO allotment.
A share of a company that is not traded on a stock exchange. It is held in demat form and changes hands privately until the company lists.
